S C A M, SPAM & OTHER CYBER ISSUES

As advances in electronic fund transfers, online shopping, Social Media sharing, blogging, texting, banking, crowd funding, donations, pay by tap, Bitcoin, etc., continue to evolve, it is imperative that you maintain, some sense of privacy in your behavior via phone or computer.

Spam and Scam phone calls, Scam or Phishing emails and so many other methods of deception are happening all day and every day of the year.  

Almost always, the success in these Scams is because you allow or have participated, either wittingly or unwittingly in the process.  

Do Not answer phone calls from unknown numbers - let them leave a message (if it's an important call a message will be left-if it is a scammer they typically don't leave a message)

Place your number on the National Do Not Call registry - at no cost by calling 1-888-382-1222 (voice) or 1-866-290-4236 (TTY)

Do Not give out any personal information to unknown callers

Do Not open or click on any links from unknown senders, either by text or email.

Do Not talk with anyone who is claiming that you owe money, want to lower a monthly bill, are calling to fix your computer, etc.

The IRS will never call you and want you to purchase a gift card as payment for a tax bill

Do Not open emails or text messages from unknown senders
